The second edition was updated with leading-edge practices and hundreds of new code samples, illustrating the art and science of software construction. In my opinion, The Mythical Man-Month is the most important book in software engineering and an essential read and reference for everyone involved in this career. My notes from this book can be seen here. Ever read The Mythical Man Month: Essays on Software Engineering? The Mythical Man-Month is a really good book, I've bought it last year. I read the 20th anniversary edition published in 1995 which has 4 new chapters. Are from the 1995 Anniversary edition, which contains the slightly-edited text and original page numbering of Brooks's original book, followed by four new chapters: two additional essays, and two retrospectives on the original edition.). The original book published in 1975 had 15 chapters. Software engineering manager chapters from it during my study and loved those, but I never read the entire book. It's an older book (even the updated one), but has a lot of good nuggets that seem as (more?) relative now as when it was published. I bought a soft cover version of the book on Amazon this week. Chapter 16 is the famous paper by the author titled No texts in the Software Engineering course I am teaching at university. Brooks Published: August 12, 1995.
